Why do shipments sometimes get delayed in customs?

• Customs found your commodity requires a permit you didn't obtain (e.g., BIS for electronics, FSSAI for food)
• Action: Engage specialist license consultant; this can add weeks

5. Intelligence or targeting

• Customs intelligence has flagged your shipment, supplier, or HS code for scrutiny
• Usually resolves after inspection clears

6. Port IT system issues

• Sometimes ICEGATE (India) or CBP ACE (USA) has processing backlogs
